What is the Content Type field? [1]

This field describes the content medium that constitutes the subject of the threat. This is not the content medium of the threat itself. For example, the appropriate content type for a cease-and-desist email about a blog post would be “Text,” since the disputed blog post is a text-based medium.

The choices for this field are:

  • Video
Describes content that is wholly or partially a video, such as a reposting of surveillance video on a website or posting a video clip to a video-sharing site like YouTube.
  • Audio
Describes content that is wholly or partially audio, such as a podcast.
  • Photo
Describes content that is wholly or partially made up of a photographic image, such as when a photograph is created by one person and then reused without permission on another's website. Additionally, "photo" includes graphics.
  • Text
Describes content that is written or typed, such as a blogger writing allegedly defamatory material about another person on his blog.
  • Virtual
Describes content that is a part of a virtual system, such as content in a multi-player online computer game or "Second Life."
