24grille v. TripAdvisor.com [1]

24 Grille, a self-described upscale restaurant at a hotel in Detroit, Michigan, filed a libel and negligence lawsuit against review site TripAdvisor.com after an anonymous TripAdvisor user advised others to avoid the restaurant. According to the complaint [2], the poster told travelers to avoid the restaurant "unless you and your family actually enjoy sharing the evening with the local prostitutes." Compl. [2] ¶ 8.

The restaurant also says it sent two letters to TripAdvisor requesting that it remove the post or investigate its accuracy, but the restaurant claims the website ignored the requests despite allegedly having a duty to the plaintiff to look into the post's accuracy. Compl. [2] ¶¶ 9 and 19-20.

The CMLP has not been able to determine the status of the lawsuit at this time.
